BOSTON - October 21, 2003 - With
security a growing concern to web surfers worldwide, large ISPs,
like AOL, are increasingly focusing on security as a way to attract
and retain customers. Teaming up with Winferno Software, a developer
of secure web browsing solutions, will allow other ISPs to compete
with large service providers. Furthermore, Winferno's platform
offers ISPs an additional source of revenue. Winferno announced today
Secure IETM for ISPs, a secure web
browsing platform available to be integrated into ISPs' services.
Instead of building a new browsing platform from the ground up, ISPs
are now able to use Secure IE as the browsing interface for their
customers. Secure IE, which provides unmatched security features for
web browsing, benefits ISP customers by providing protection against
surreptitious installation of cookies, ActiveX and JavaScript
programs on their computers. These programs commonly command
autodialers and keystroke loggers, and allow hackers to steal
personal information like credit card numbers or to dial up charges
on a user's phone bills.
"SecureIE will help service providers of all sizes to compete
on a level playing field in the area of secure browsing," said
Randy Smith, Co-Founder, Credo International. "Although people
have installed firewalls and antivirus protection, customers are
looking to their service providers to offer protection from
malicious programs being installed on their computers as they browse
the web, and with SecureIE, they finally get the hassle-free
security they want."
Beyond the security that Secure IE offers to home-users and small
businesses, the secure browser also provides numerous productivity
features to ease and accelerate web browsing. With download speeds
faster than other browsers, pop-up and flash-animation blocking, as
well as the ability to save entire browsing sessions (even HTTPS
pages), Secure IE makes web browsing faster and smoother. Secure IE
also features a capability that allows for the creation of address
bar shortcuts. For example, typing: "go travel" in Secure
IE's address bar will start a search for the phrase
"travel" using Google. Users can customize this feature
to search for information by creating up to 1000 shortcuts to their
own, favorite sites.
"ISPs are always looking for ways to improve the amount and
quality of services they offer to their customers," said Jon
Lal, president of Winferno Software. "We have spoken to
numerous service providers and their response to our product has
been extremely favorable. They recognize that providing a secure
browser interface is becoming essential."
