Browser Add-Ons

When you open the Internet, do you see a bunch of icons in the top of your browser? Do you wonder how they got there?

Simple- it’s because of feature called Browser Add-Ons. For programs you use all the time, this feature can be convenient. But oftentimes it’s just a nuisance and seriously slows down your PC or causes it to shut down.

When you install a new program there is often an option to add the program to your browser and more times than not, this option is checked and you have to manually turn it off. In a rush to finish installation, this buried option is easily overlooked.

The next time you open your Internet, you’ll notice a new icon is installed in top bar of Internet Explorer. Often these are toolbars, search boxes or other items that make the Internet easier to use. But sometimes, they can slow down your PC or cause other problems.

Winferno Security Scan makes it turn browser add-on programs on or off.

 

To turn off automatic start-up features:

1. Simply open Winferno Security Scan and click on the Browser Add-On Programs button (on the left hand side of the screen).
2. Winferno Security Scan will have already scanned your PC and created a list of your Browser Add-On programs. For ease of use, these programs will be placed into categories.
3. To see specific programs, click on a category (ie- Right Click Menus, Browser Helper Objects, etc)
4. To turn off browser add-on features for a program, simply uncheck it. (You can uncheck as many as you like)
5. To leave on browser add-on features for a program, simply leave it as is or check it.
6. Next press the Save Settings button to save your changes. The next time you start up your PC, the changes will be applied.
