Secure IE's Internet Security Manager
|
The Internet Security Manager is your one stop source for
browser security. Here you'll be able to classify websites
by how much you trust them, and automatically tune your
browser settings.
Security Zones are simple a way to classify websites into
three security categories - Browser
Security : Low, Browser
Security : Medium and Browser
Security : High. Each category has limits on what it
will allow a website to do.
Most websites use technologies such as Java, ActiveX, and
Cookies to improve the functionality of the website (such
as remembering your login name). However, less scrupulous
websites can use Java, ActiveX, cookies and file downloads
to install software and monitor what you do with your
computer.
Based on how much you trust a particular website, you may
want to restrict Java, ActiveX, and Cookies capabilities by
setting the website to Browser
Security: High.
In the Internet Security Manager you can:
- Run the 'Automatic Security Tune-Up' which automatically
sets security levels item-by-item for each security zone.
- Easily manage which sites are in your security zones
The Internet Security manager can be accessed by:
- Clicking on the Internet Security icon located in the
top right hand corner of the browser.
- Right-clicking on the security zone information in
Secure IE's status bar while viewing a web page (i.e.,
right-click on the status bar near the bottom-right of the
Secue IE screen).
- Clicking on the Desktop icon that is automatically
created when installing Secure IE.
|
Control ActiveX, Flash, and Popups with a Single Click
|
Secure IE's main screen now features easy to use buttons
that turn ActiveX, Flash and Popups on/off with a single
click.
Secure IE 2004 recognizes that not all popups are unwanted.
Sometimes the sites we trust use them to convey important
information. In this new version you can allow popups from
sites that you have classified as "Trusted" or
Browser Security : Low.
|
Status Bars on Browser Tabs
|
|
When you open a new browser tab, you will notice a pie chart
located in the left hand corner. This chart lets you know
the status of the page loading and disappears once the page
has fully loaded.
|
Auto Update
|
|
While your subscription is active, you can set Secure IE to
auto-update once a week. This valuable feature will give you
access to the latest security and productivity updates
available from Secure IE.
|
And Lots More...
|
Secure IE 2004 also incorporates many imporvements to existing features and technology. Here are just some of the improvements:
- Improved fast Forward technology makes it easier to
navigate through a series of similar pages
- Automatic cookie authentication for downloading files
- Improved automatic detection and configuration with
respect to popular virus scanning sofware such as McAfee
and Norton anti-virus software
