Opening a browser window

Opening a browser window
To open a browser window:
- Click on the Browser button in the Standard Toolbar
- Click on the New Browser Tab link in the Research-Desk Toolbox
- Or select File, New, Browser.

Navigation
|
|
Use the navigation buttons - Back, Stop, Forward, Refresh and Home -
in conjunction with the Address Bar to navigate the web.
|
Research-Desk Toolbox:
|
The new Research-Desk Toolbox contains all of your favorite Research-Desk Professional
features in one convenient location.
It’s organized into 9 categories:
- Open and Save - This contains everything you need to open new tabs,
start new workspaces, open files and more.
- Layer Manager - Here you’ll find a directory of all open layers,
plus a subdirectory of all open files. Easily move, re-name and organize all your files.
- Search Workspace - Here you can search for a word or phrase across all open layers.
- Favorites - Here you’ll find a list of your favorites and options to organize them
- History - You’ll be able to view a list of sites you’ve visited and have the
option to erase this list.
- Editing Features - In this section you’ll find the highlight and
sticky note features as well as search capabilities.
- File downloads - Here you can download a file as well as access the File
Transfer Manager
- Other - Here you can access your preferences as well as the help docs.
Choosing to have this toolbox open, places all your favorite features at your fingertips.
But if you’d prefer, you can also hide the sidebar.

To hide or view the Research-Desk Toolbox
|
- Click on the orange button located in the top left hand corner next to the browser tabs
- Or select View, Research-Desk Toolbox
|
Searching
|
To search for text on the current web page, enter the text in the Find box and press
the Enter key. Research-Desk will then highlight matching text on the web page.
Press Enter again or F3 to search for the next occurrence of the text. Hold down
the Shift key while performing a search to highlight all occurrences.

To search the entire workspace for text:
|
Use the Search Workspace Tool (located in the Research-Desk Toolbox) to search
across the entire workspace.
- Under Search For, type in the word or phrase that you’re
looking for
- Under Search Where, choose All Layers or pick a
specific layer
- Hit Go and then view your results
You can click on your results and the text you were searching for will
be highlighted on the page.
To search using popular search engines,
simply type in what you’d like to search for and then select which search engine
(ie. Google, Yahoo, Dictionary, etc) that you’d like to search. After you hit
enter, we’ll take you directly to the search results.

Magnifying
|
You can magnify individual images on the web page or magnify the
whole web page. To magnify individual images, right-click on the image
on the web page and select Zoom In or Zoom Out from
the popup menu.
To magnify the entire webpage,
select View, Zoom and then choose one of the following options:
- Largest
- Larger
- Medium
- Smaller
- Smallest
