How to restrict access:
1. Log onto your PC as the Administrator
2. Start up PC Theater
3. Open the Chapter Sidebar by pressing the Chapter Sidebar button located
in the bottom right hand corner of PC Theater
4. Click on the Parental Controls icon located in the top right hand corner
5. Choose a user by clicking on the drop down box in the upper right hand
corner
6. In PC Theater, you can either use the pre-set rating system or customize
your own. In the pre-set rating system choose:
- Grounded – all access denied
- Pre-School (Default User) – Allowed to watch movies
with a G-rating.
- Pre-Teen – Allowed to watch movies with G
and PG ratings
- Teen – Allowed to watch movies with G,
PG and PG-13 ratings. To watch un-rated
movies, the user must enter a password.
- Pre-Adult – Allowed to watch movies with G,
PG and PG-13 ratings. To watch un-rated
or R-rated movies, the user must enter a password.
- Adult – Allowed to watch G, PG,
PG-13, R and NC-17. Other
ratings are password protected.
- Unrestricted (Default Admin) – all access granted.
- Custom – You can customize ratings for individuals.
7. If you’d prefer to customize your ratings, per user, then next to
each rating (ie. G, PG, PG-13, R, etc), choose either Approved, Denied or
Password Protected
- Approved
Means that that the movie will be unlocked and will play
- Denied
Means the movie will be locked and will not play
- Password Protected
Means that the movie requires a special password to play
8. When you are finished, click “
Set” and your
parental controls will be saved.
Claire is 8 years old and often likes to watch DVDs on the computer. Here’s
an example of the password controls her mother set for her:
As you can see, Claire is allowed to watch G-rated movies all by herself.
But to see a PG, she must get a password from her mom. She is never allowed
to view a PG-13, R, NC-17, Unrated or other movies.
