PC Security Scans

PC Security Scans
The PC Security Scan deep scans your PC to locate dangerous security leaks, potential ways hackers could enter your PC and checks to see if your protection is outdated.

At the top of the screen you’ll see a summary of your last scan including:

  • The date scanned
  • The number of items scanned
  • And the number of problems found

To perform a new scan, check the options you’d like to scan:

    • Scan Ports – Winferno Security Scan looks for any open ports in your PC, which a hacker could use to quietly break into you PC.
    • Scan Shared Resources – Winferno Security Scan examines your PC to see if you have any shared folders. When a folder is designated as shared, this means that anyone can see what’s in it and potentially invade your privacy.
    • Scan Browser Security Level – Winferno Security Scan checks your Browser Security Levels. Without proper configuration, hackers and spyware can use tools such as ActiveX to perform drive by downloads and plant spyware on your PC.
    • Scan Windows Update Protection Level – Winferno Security Scan checks your Windows Update Protection levels to make sure they are up to date. When Internet threats occur, Windows often releases patches and updates to resolve problems. Not having proper updates installed greatly increases your chances of serious PC problems.

Choose the scans you’d like by checking the boxes next to the scan name. If you change your mind and decide not to perform one of the scans, just uncheck the box.

After you’ve made your selections, press the Scan Now button.

While scanning, notice that in the list of scans, some of the items have changed colors.

If an item is pink and has a check mark next to it, that means that scan is complete.

To Stop the scan at any point, simply press the Stop button.

After your scans are complete, your Scan Results will pop up in a separate window.
