   Define Search Shortcuts
 Step One:
Type the URL of the website you'd like to add into the address bar. Hit Enter.

When you arrive at the site, locate the search box and start a search. I've chosen Burmese Mountain Dogs.
Hit the Search Button.
 Step Two:
You'll then be taken to a page with the search results.

Go to the address bar and notice that the term you searched for is the address. I've highlighted mine and it begins with "Burmese".
Copy everything that comes before your search term.
 Step Three:
Go to the Search box in the Secure IE browser and click on the drop down list. Choose the option Define Search Shortcuts.
 Step Four:
A Secure IE preference box will pop up and you will see a list of Search shortcuts.

To add your own, click on the last entry in the list. Another line will appear for you to add your own.

Go over to the third column (URL) and paste in the URL you copied from step 2.
After the = sign:
  • Add {A}
  • And hit Enter. It is very important to hit Enter or Return after each step. Otherwise your entry will NOT be saved.
 Step Five:
Use the scroll bar to fill in the Name and Shortcut columns. Shortcuts are what you would type into your address bar and they would take you directly to the website. For example, when you type in "ask Burmese mountain dogs" in Secure IE's address bar and press enter, it automatically searches for the phrase "Burmese mountain dogs" using Ask Jeeves.

It is important to make sure you hit Enter after each column you type. Otherwise the entry will not be saved.
Then hit OK and your search website will be saved.

Now when you go to the Secure IE browser, Ask Jeeves will be included in the Search list. And you can Search directly from your browser.

And it will be programmed as an address bar shortcut.

Here's what the Search Box will now look like:
Here's what an address bar shortcut will now look like:
After you type in the shortcut and your search terms, hit Enter and you'll be taken to the results.

Note - do not type in http or www. The address bar shortcut will not work if you type in http or www.
