
1. New Document buttons
Click on these buttons to open a new web browser, Work document,
Excel spreadsheet or a PowerPoint presentation. You can have dozens of
open documents at once!
These buttons are found in the Standard Toolbar.
2. Integrated Google Search Box
Use the Search box to search the web using popular search engines
such as Google, Yahoo, or Altavista. Simply type in the term you'd like to
search for and then select the search engine you'd like to use. Then hit enter and
you'll be taken to the results.
3. Layer Bar
The Layer Bar light will show you which layer you are currently in.
To switch between layers, just click on the buttons.
4. Security Toolbar
With one click, easily block or allow popups, Flash and ActiveX.
5. File Transfer Toolbar
A File Transfer Toolbar is automatically shown for each file that is downloaded
from the web.
6. Research-Desk Toolbox
The Research-Desk Toolbox contains all of your favorite Research-Desk
features in one convenient location.
It's organized into 9 categories:
- Open and Save - This contains everything
you need to open new tabs, start new workspaces, open files and more.
- Layer Manager - Here you'll find a directory
of all open layers, plus a subdirectory of all open files. Easily move,
re-name and organize all your files.
- Search Workspace - Here you can search for
a word or phrase in a specific layer or across all open layers.
- Favorites - Here you'll find a list of your
favorites and options to organize them.
- History - You'll be able to view a list of
sites you've visited and have the option to erase this list.
- Editing Features - In this section you'll
find the highlight and sticky note options as well as search capabilities.
- File downloads - Here you can download a file
as well as access the File Transfer Manager
- Other - Here you can access your preferences as
well as the help docs.
The Toolbox sidebar can be left open or hidden.
7. Layer Manager
The Layer Manager creates a directory of all open layers. Then within each layer, a
subdirectory of all open documents is created. This handy feature makes it easy to organize
and view multiple documents at once.
With the Layer Manager you can:
- Easily re-name a layer
- Drag and drop a document from one layer to the next
- Quickly switch between layers
8. Search Workspace
Looking for something? It's easy to search with Research-Desk Professional!
Simply type in the word or phrase that you're looking for, then choose if
you'd like to search across all layers or pick just one. Hit Go
and your results will appear in the box below.
9. Document Tab Bar
The names of open documents and websites appear on buttons at the top of
the screen.
- To switch between websites, simply click on the tabs.
- To move a document to a different layer, just drag and drop the
tab to the Layer Bar.
10. Status Bar
This toolbar shows important status messages and the progress of loading
web pages.
11. Security Zone Info
This panel shows the security zone information for the web site you are
currently on. Right-click to change settings or to assign the current web
site to any security zone.
12. Info. Message Box
The Info. Message Box will appear from time to time to show
informative messages.
