The File Transfer Manager and the Transfer Queue

The File Transfer Manager window (above) shows the Transfer Queue, a list of downloading and downloaded files.

The list shows detailed information on downloaded and downloading files. With this interactive tool bar you can:
  • Click on any filename on the list to rename or relocate the file
  • Click on the host to browse the host's web site
  • Click on comments to enter comments
Remove unwanted and complete items (use the Delete button in the File Transfer Toolbar or in the File Transfer Manager window) from the transfer queue to ensure efficient operation of Research-Desk.

 Pausing Downloads
Click on the Stop button in the File Transfer Toolbar or in the File Transfer Manager window to pause the download.

To pause multiple downloads highlight the corresponding entries in the File Transfer Manager window (hold down the CTRL or Shift keys while selecting to select multiple entries) and then click on the Stop button.

To pause all file downloads immediately select Stop All File Transfers from the View, Stop menu.

 Resuming Paused or Interrupted Downloads
Click on the Start button in the File Transfer Toolbar or in the File Transfer Manager to resume paused or interrupted downloads.

Whenever possible, instead of restarting an interrupted download from the beginning, Research-Desk automatically resumes the interrupted download from where it was interrupted. This saves download time. However, some web sites do not support the resume features of the FTP and HTTP protocols. When this happens, Research-Desk automatically restarts the download from the very beginning.
