Research-Desk is an innovative research and productivity
environment that contains the world's first
professional web browser, and hosts commonly used business and productivity
applications such as
Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Research-Desk has all the features of
Microsoft Internet Explorer plus more than a dozen more. Research-Desk
includes an integrated
File Transfer Manager, integrated document management utilities such as
Zip, UnZip, and much more. Research-Desk allows you
to perform all the tasks in one application that contains a seamless super-set
of the features - word processing, spell checks, spreadsheets, web browsing,
etc. - that were previously provided piecemeal by the individual applications.
You can open and work with multiple types of documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
web browser, etc.) simultaneously without closing any of the previous ones.

A combination
Tabbed / Multiple
Document Interface
|
|
Research-Desk's
innovative yet
intuitive user
interface is based
on a tabbed document
metaphor - with each
tab representing a
single open
document. This
enables you to open
and edit multiple
documents
simultaneously. The
tabbed interface can
also function as a
traditional (similar
to that used by
Microsoft Office)
Multiple Document
Interface to allow
side-by-side viewing
of multiple
documents.

Edit, View,
and Manage Microsoft
Word, Excel and
PowerPoint Documents
|
Research-Desk can
open, edit and save
Microsoft Excel,
Word and PowerPoint
documents when
Office 97 or newer
is installed. The
full capabilities of
the individual
Microsoft Office
applications -
including all menus
and toolbars and
associated commands,
Print and Print
Preview, VBA, and
the Visual Basic
Editor are available
within
Research-Desk.
Research-Desk's
integration of
individual Microsoft
Office applications
into one application
makes several new
things possible. For
example, you can
save a web page as
Microsoft Word
document. You
can use the
Search Workspace
feature to search
across all open
documents -
spreadsheets, web
pages, word
documents, etc. -
all at once.

Workspaces
|
|
The collection of
open documents (web
pages, Word
documents, Excel
spreadsheets, etc.)
is the workspace.
You can not only
open and save
documents
individually, but
you can also save
the entire workspace
as a self-contained
file. You can create
a workspace for each
thread of activity -
for example, a
workspace for each
project, or a
workspace for each
report. You can
easily collaborate
with others by
emailing whole
workspaces. This not
only eliminates the
requirement of
emailing each
document separately,
but also preserves
the organization of
the workspace.
Workspaces not
only allow you to
maintain multiple
threads of activity,
but also make
switching between
related groups of
documents quicker
and easier.

Save Complete
Web Pages
|
|
Research-Desk's
PageSnap™ technology
enables you to save
an accurate
representation of a
web page (including
frames, style
sheets, images,
java, links, etc) as
single file. The web
page saving feature
is significantly
more advanced than
that of Microsoft
Internet Explorer -
it works
significantly
faster, saves framed
web pages, even
saves secure server
(HTTPS) web pages.
Save copies of
web pages to archive
web-based research,
and even save online
transaction
receipts.

Grammar and
Spell Checking when
filling Web Forms
(requires Microsoft
Word)
|
|
Use
the full editing
capabilities (incl.
grammar and spelling
checks) of Microsoft
Word when entering
text in web page
text areas or forms.
Research-Desk's
ActiveX Adapter™
technology
automatically
substitutes web page
text areas with an
embedded Word
Document. You can
not only use the
full editing
capabilities of
Microsoft Word, but
also save the text
as a Word document,
or insert text from
an existing Word
document.

Intelligently
Block Undesirable
Popups
|
|
Research-Desk's
PopSmart™ technology
distinguishes
between "desirable"
and "undesirable"
browser popup
windows. For
example, if you
click on an
advertising banner
on a web page,
Research-Desk will
open it in a new
window. But if the
web page
automatically pops
open an
advertisement banner
in a new window,
Research-Desk will
block the popup.
Unlike, other
available popup
blocking
technologies,
PopSmart does not
use finicky and high
maintenance lists of
URLs to identify
undesirable popups.
PopSmart
intelligently
analyzes the Java
and HTML content of
the page and to
determine whether
you requested the
popup.
