   Drag And Drop
Many of the more common tasks can be done more simply be using the mouse to drag-and-drop:
  • Drag the tabs in the Document Tab Bar over to the Layer Manager or to the Layer Bar to move documents between layers.
  • Drag the buttons in the Layer Bar to rearrange the layers in the workspace.
  • Drag the buttons in the Layer Manager (shown in the Side Bar in the picture) to rearrange documents and layers.
  • Drag a file or a link from the Desktop or Windows Explorer onto the Layer Manager or the Workspace Background to open the file or navigate to the link.
  • Drag a link on a web page or the Shortcut Icon to the Desktop or Windows Explorer to create a shortcut.
  • Drag a link on a web page to the Download File button to start a background file download.
  • Drag text from one document to another to move or copy text

 Moving Documents to Other Layers

Each tab in the Document Tab Bar corresponds to a document in the active layer. You can move a document to another layer by dragging the appropriate tab in the Document Tab Bar onto the Layer Bar

In addition, you can also rearrange documents and layers by dragging-and-dropping within the Layer Manager window (accessed by selecting Layer Manager from the Window menu).

 Re-Ordering Layers

You can drag the buttons on the Layer Bar to re-order the layers. You can also drag the layers in the Layer Manager to re-order them.

Moving Text from One Layer to Another

To drag text from one layer to another, simply highlight and drag the text over to the Layer Bar (while holding the mouse button down). As you drag the text over the Layer Bar, the corresponding layers will activate and you can then drop the text onto the desired location in the active layer

 Opening Saved Files or Workspaces

Research-Desk will open files or Internet Shortcuts dragged onto the Workspace Background. For example, you can open a Word document on the desktop by dragging it from the desktop onto the Workspace Background. You can also open a web page link by dragging it from a browser window onto the background.

 Internet URLs or Links

You can drag a link from a web page onto the Workspace Background to open the link in a new browser window. You can also drag a link onto the Layer Bar to activate a layer before dropping it onto the workspace background.

You can also drag the icon to the left of the browser's Address Bar onto an Explorer window to create a shortcut, or onto the Workspace Background to open the link in a new browser window.

 Moving Text between Documents

Arrange the documents so that they are visible side by side (Select Windows, Tile Vertically or Tile Horizontally to arrange the documents in the active layer). You can then drag text from any document - web page, Word document, Excel spreadsheet, PowerPoint presentation - to any other.
