Great New Look
The first thing you'll probably notice about Research-Desk Professional 2005 is the great new look! We've streamlined
and modernized the Research-Desk interface with color, easy to locate buttons and added functionality.
Research-Desk Toolbox (sidebar)
The new Research-Desk Toolbox houses all your favorite Research-Desk features in one convenient location.
It's organized into 9 categories:
Open and Save - This contains everything you need to open new tabs, start new workspaces, open files and more.
Layer Manager - Here you'll find a directory of all open layers, plus a subdirectory of all open files. Easily more, re-name and organize all your files.
Search Workspace - Here you can search for a word or phrase in a specific layer or across all open layers.
Favorites - Here you'll find a list of your favorites and options to organize them.
History - You'll be able to view a list of sites you've visited and have the option to erase this list.
Files - Files is an integrated Explorer window. You can browse and open files directly from Research-Desk.
Editing Features - In this section you'll find the highlight and sticky note options as well as search capabilities.
File Downloads - Here you can download a file as well as access the File Transfer Manager.
Other - Here you can access your preferences as well as the help docs.
Choosing to have this toolbox open places all your favorite features at your fingertips. But if you'd prefer, you can also hide the sidebar.
Integrated Google Search Box
In this edition of Research-Desk, we've created a list of the most popular search engines. In the browser window, you'll now see a search box.
Simply type in what you'd like to search for and then select which search engine (ie. Google, Yahoo, Dictionary, etc) that you'd like to search.
After you hit enter, we'll take you directly to the search results.
Control ActiveX, Flash, and Popups with a Single Click
Research-Desk's main screen now features easy to use buttons that turn ActiveX, Flash, and Popups on/off with a single click.
Research-Desk Professional 2005, recognizes that not all popups are unwanted. Sometimes the sites we trust use them to convey important
information. In this new version you can allow popups from sites that you have classified as "Trusted" or "Browser Security : Low".
Auto-update
Included with this latest version of Research-Desk is one year of free updates. You can decide how often you'd like Research-Desk
to update and it will do it automatically. This valuable feature will give you access to the latest updates available from Research-Desk.
Save Word, Excel, Powerpoint files, even Web Pages as PDFs
With this new version of Research-Desk you now have the option to save Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint files and even Web Pages as PDFs.
Status Bars on Browser Tabs
When you open a new browser tab, you will notice a pie chart located in the left hand corner. This chart lets you know the status of
the page loading and disappears once the page has fully loaded.
